This house was built over 100 years ago by the owner's grandfather
who saw a need for a pub in the locale. Its situation is ideal
as all rooms have views of the sea and surrounding countryside,
its close to Kilronan and the ferry to the mainland, and its
close to the airstrip that services Rossaveal near Galway City.
The house has been extended over the years and was recently
refurbished. All rooms are tastefully decorated and include
all modern amenities, including full en-suite facilities, coffee/tea
making facilities, TV and direct dial phones. Private off-street
parking available.
Guests need to be aware that the house also operates as a pub.
There is lively traditoinal music and Irish dancing every weekend
during the summer. "Pub grub" is also available in
the summer months.
An interesting aside: The house overlooks Tempall Beanann,
which dates back to 846AD. It's reputed to be the smallest church
in Europe.
Tigh Fitz would be a great base for touring Inis Mor, and a
great experience in traditional Irish culture.
