The Esplanade Hotel was built in Victorian times to offer first
class accommodation to families who came to Bray when it was
a popular resort town. With the popularity of flights and auto
travel in the 20th century, Bray saw a downturn in popularity,
which left the seafront a rather seedy place to visit. However,
today, coastal communities are very popular in Ireland and following
the trend in this part of town, the Esplanade has been completely
refurbished to bring back its Victorian splendor. During this
time, the hotel was also expanded and all of the Victorian rooms
have been modernized. All rooms in the hotel are en-suite and
include coffee/tea making facilities, hairdryer, phone, TV and
broadband. There is ample off-street parking available and handicapped
rooms are now available. And some rooms have views of the seafront
and the famous Bray Promenade.
