Fort Royal Guest House was opened in 1948 as an accommodation
and is still run by the Fletcher family. The house is set on
18 privately owned acres that includes many guest amenities,
including an arboretum, walled garden, 1880s stone tower, tennis
court, mature trees and lawns, and a 9-hole pitch and putt golf
course. All of this and a private path to Kinnegar Strand and
Lough Swilly, which the house and estate overlook. All bedrooms
are en-suite and all but two rooms have views of the lough.
The house has been decorated in a relaxed country style. Rooms
are spacious and welcoming. There are two guest lounges, both
with a fireplace as the focal point. The house also boasts an
award winning cuisine; they've had an AA Red Rosette for the
last ten years. The walled garden grows the kitchen's produce,
so diners will be assured of the freshest possible ingredients.
While the house is no longer open to walk-in diners, guests
should make reservations before 12noon on the day they wish
to dine, or prebook on room booking.
With so much available on the estate, and the stunning location,
there's no reason to go anywhere else.
