Ballyhack started its life as a seaside Norman port belonging
to the Knights Hospitallers. The 15th century stone keep
dominates the village skyline.
This is a very small village, which contains a shop, a restaurant,
a handful of homes and a small quay for fishing boats and
the ferry service from across Waterford Harbour in Passage
East in County Waterford. A passenger service was started
here in 1982, the route cutting off up to two hours driving
time from having to drive up to Waterford, then up to New
Ross and turn off for Ballyhack.
Ballyhack is still a popular fishing port in this region.
It's also the starting point for a scenic coastal walking
path.
Ballyhack is twinned with the neighboring village, Arthurstown.
